Join the vMaD Children's Welfare volunteer program and you'll find yourself working closely with children in their rural village, engaging in a broad spectrum of child-centred activities that work towards improving their well-being. A reality is that these children can easily become teenagers and young adults before they have ever ventured outside of their village. The philosophy of our children's welfare project is to bring life experiences to the children that their circumstances do not allow them to seek out. Through this process we help them learn meaningful life lessons that enable them to develop into productive and engaged citizens. Through structured lesson plans, coordinated group play, informal free play, and field trips we introduce Cambodian children to new cultures, faces, experiences, and landscapes, as well as the importance of sharing, cooperating, listening, and working in teams. With a minimum placement length of one week this is an ideal opportunity to experience the real Cambodia and help give a group of children in Siem Reap, Cambodian the chance they deserve.
