Why group volunteering?
Many of our past volunteers have told us that their volunteer placement in Cambodia was a life-changing & eye-opening experience. Many people decide to volunteer together as a family or a group of friends / work colleagues – so that they can share that experience with people who are close to them
Will we be working together?
For small groups of 2 or 3 people, we can always ensure that they work on the same project. However, larger groups will often have to be split up into different teams. On the ‘Teaching & Child Care’ volunteer placements we may split a group of six into two groups of three, and have one group working at each location. On the ‘Rural Community Development’ volunteer placement we may split a group of twelve into three groups of four and have them working separately at three different households. Often it is not possible for very large groups to do all their work together, as too many hands will mean not enough work for everybody.
Where will we be living?
You will be staying at the MaD House - our family home and NGO HQ 20km from town near the Temple of Bakong. Larger groups may be required to live at a local guesthouse - double, twin & treble rooms are available. Groups will be required to share rooms to qualify for the discounted rates. Please note: persons under the age of 18 must be supervised at all times, and must share a room with either another youth or their supervisor. Opportunities may arise for your group to do a home-stay at the orphanage or the project site, which are recommended but not compulsory.
