Why family volunteering?
Family volunteering is an excellent way for families to work together towards a common goal: making a difference for good. Increasingly parents are opting for family volunteering as opposed to beach-side holidays, because it allows them to teach their children a sense of social responsibility and to build closer bonds as a family.
What will my children be doing?
On the ‘Teaching & Child Care’ volunteer placements children will join in with games, activities and depending on maturity will be able to help out with some teaching. On the ‘Rural Community Development’ volunteer placements children will work alongside their parents & the local community doing building & farming work. For families who have young children, we can arrange day-care for a small fee.
Where will we be living?
You will be staying at the MaD House - our family home and NGO HQ 20km from town near the Temple of Bakong. Please note: persons under the age of 18 must be supervised at all times, and must share a room with either their parents or another sibling. Opportunities may arise for the family to do a home-stay at the orphanage or the project site, which are recommended but not compulsory.
Minimum Age of Child
For family volunteering the recommended minimum age is 13 years old. Families wishing to volunteer who have younger children are welcome, though they will have to enquire regarding specific information. Childcare is available by arrangement for a nominal fee (approximately $5.00 per day)
13+ is an adult – 100% of fee applies
6-13 child, comes for 75% of adult fee
0-6 years old, comes for 25% of adult fee
